Can you relate?? Do you live in a house where there’s always some kind of noise? The dog, your young adult kids bursting through the door at 1 a.m., singing like they’re auditioning for "American Idol," and then—oh yes—the dog again at 3 a.m., pawing and whining at your bedroom door because they want to cuddle. Let’s not forget the snoring spouse. (Sorry, honey, I had to! 😂)
Don’t get me wrong—I’m so grateful for my healthy, lively family. But sometimes, they cramp my style... especially when they mess with my sleep! 😴
Over the past few weeks, my sleep has been so interrupted that fatigue started to set in. My body felt heavy, and my nervous system fragile. You know that feeling when your whole body just screams for rest? That was me. 😎 And while I know the importance of slowing down—of pausing and resetting—it’s still so hard when all you want to do is keep up your usual pace.
As much as I wanted to hit the ground running last week, I had to make a conscious decision to step back and nurture my body. That meant skipping my early morning workouts (UGH 😩 —that was a tough choice).
If you know me, you know I love starting my day with an intense sweat session in a 100-degree room, grooving to Snoop Dogg and Biggie.🎶 But taking a short break from my workouts gave my body the rest it needed. By Saturday, I felt ready to get back to class.
Reframing the Moment
When I walked into that studio, it was packed. My first thought was, 🤔 Why didn’t I come earlier? It’s SO crowded and we are literally “on top” of each other. But then I stopped myself: Grace, you don’t know what this hour will bring. Don’t start with that mindset. Dedicate this class to your future self and see what happens.
And you know what? It ended up being an amazing and fun class. The heat, the sweat, the music—I was completely in the zone. When Nicki Minaj’s "Moment for Life" 🎶 came on, I couldn’t help but sing along:
"I wish that I could have this moment for life, for life, for life... 'Cause in this moment, I just feel so alive." 🤸
I did feel alive—completely in flow. ⚡️ Strong, energized, and fully present.
The Release
At the end of class, they handed me one of those amazing cold towels that had been soaking in organic cucumber water. I laid back, placed it on my face, and let out a deep sigh. That’s when it hit me—a surge of emotion.
If I weren’t surrounded by 50 other people, I probably would’ve started crying right then and there. So I asked myself: What’s wrong? Why am I feeling this way?😢
Two things came up:
I was overwhelmed with gratitude 🙏🏽 —so thankful to have my energy back.
I realized I hadn’t been having as much fun lately.💫
Fun Is the Missing Piece
The past few months, I’ve been so focused on responsibilities and “life-ing” that I unconsciously left fun out of the equation. But here’s the thing: fun is essential.⚠️
Being a high performer who is focused on their goals doesn’t mean giving up on fun. In fact, fun is an absolute must. 💯 When you integrate fun into your life, your performance soars. Fun lightens your load, recharges your energy, and helps you show up as your best self. 😇
When we’re having fun—when we’re playful and lighthearted—we feel better. Our vibration rises. And when our vibration rises, we attract possibilities and opportunities with ease and grace.✨
If you need permission to have fun, let me be the one to give it to you: You have permission to have fun! 🤩
Two Simple Ways to Add Fun to Your Day
Crank up your favorite song in the car 🚘🎶 and sing it at the top of your lungs. I promise it’ll shift your energy instantly.💫
Treat yourself to a small adventure: go for a scenic drive, explore a local park, or try that coffee shop you’ve always wanted to visit ☕. Sometimes, a change of scenery can refresh your perspective and inject a little excitement into your day.🍃
Here’s to a beautiful week ahead, filled with grace, flow, and moments that make you feel truly alive. 💜
